You have taken out a personal loan in Switzerland for a given amount and want to pay it back before its maturity date. Are you allowed to do this and if so, what are the prepayment conditions? Do you have to pay fees? What about the interest?
Right to repay before the maturity date subject to fees
Your loan can be repaid in its entirety at any time via prepayment, which is subject to fees equal to approximately one hundred francs.
Interest calculations end on the day of repayment
You only pay interest from the date of execution of the contract until the final loan repayment date, even if this occurs prior to the loan maturity date.
This point is governed by Article 17 of the Swiss Consumer Credit Law on prepayments which came into force on 01 January 2003.
